Ashley ~Just A Work In Progress

I am so thrilled to be participating in this Country Porch Friends Blog Party!  I hope you'll take a second and click on the link above to go meet Esther at Our Simple Country Life.  I think you'll find her to be as encouraging as I do.  I just love her blog!

Now...hello to you!  Thanks for stopping in.  I suppose I should start by introducing myself...I'm Ashley!  I am married to a husband I simply adore and we have 5 beautiful children that color our lives with happiness I believe that Jesus Christ came and died for me so that my sins could be forgiven...what could be better than that?

Growing up in a military home with a Dad who was gone quite often, I knew I never wanted to have anything to do with military life again.  God had other plans.  After marrying my love, sure enough he was commissioned into the Air Force.  Thankfully we have only moved twice and we are now members of the Georgia Air National Guard so unless we want to move, we won't.  I love it here; great friends, a wonderful church home, being close to family, good schools and a quiet neighborhood.
It was just me growing up and  I do believe that's why I have always longed for a large family.  I've always dreamed of a large kitchen table full of food and surrounded with children.  When my husband and I married he wanted 2 kiddos and  I wanted 4.  When we decided we would try for our 4th God revealed to us he indeed thought 5 was a better number and blessed us with twin girls.  My children range from 11 to 3.  I have been a proud SAHM for 10 years.  If you would have asked me when I was younger if I ever thought that would happen, my answer would have been an emphatic, NO!  I always dreamed of having some big, important, high paying job.  I did work for a while after my first child was born, but it was difficult to juggle it all.  After my son was born and my husband encouraged me to stay home, I decided to give it a try.  I have found that although each day consists of very similar tasks there is not one single day that is the same.  So here I am 10 years later working at the biggest, most important, high paying (with love) job there is!  Who knew I would see things in an entirely different light.
I started blogging over a year ago.  It started out as my way to keep up with happening in our lives...since I don't often have opportunities to sit and scrapbook.  While that is still  my main focus, I've now started to use it as a means of self expression and encouragement for others.  I want to use this blog as a window into my life.  I believe everyone has something beautiful to offer to the world.  I'm hoping my experiences may just be what I have to offer.  I've been through a lot in my 32 years; some of which I am slowly starting to share on my blog.  Over time I have realized there are many people who are struggling and hurting inside because of their secrets.  If anything good can come from my personal walk, I want people to know my story; to know what I've lived through and to know how God has helped me pick up the pieces time and time again.  Because at the end of the day, we are all just works in progress.

Thanks so much for visiting and  I hope you'll stick around! I'd love to have a chance to get to know you too.
