Rock Ranch

I woke up Saturday morning feeling a little restless.  Fall break was almost over and although we had done quite a few things, I wanted one last hurrah.  I was scanning facebook when I saw someone mention apple picking.  I thought it would be so much fun to pick our own apples and come home to make apple pies.  However, after a little more scrolling I came upon the Rock Ranch.  What initially caught my eye was the military discount...I'm all about saving a buck!  I looked at the clock...8:30.  We could surely make it out in time to be there CLOSE to when it opened.  Sure enough we were dressed, fed and out the door by 9:15!  Just in case you're new to my blog...that is a record.  Considering we had two birthday parties scheduled for the afternoon, I figured we would only stay for a couple of hours.  As it turns out the Rock Ranch was a-mazing!  There was so much to do!  Every weekend has a different theme and boy of boy was this weeks' theme perfect...cowboys!  We were in heaven!  There were horse shows, gun fights, and tons of cowboys riding around.  The atmosphere was so fun.  Here are a few other things we did:
First thing's first...document that the event really happened.
This piece of equipment didn't really fit in with the cowboy theme, but it looked really neat.
We all experienced our very first corn maze.  We had 9 different clues and destinations to find our way out.  Now I don't know if that's the way it typically is, but I thought that was pure genius.  It sure made for lots and lots of walking too.
The little girls had to stop with Gam for a small box of raisins.
One of the neatest things they had was a gigantic "pillow" to jump on.  It's kind of like a bounce house...without the walls.  It's a tad firmer and the edges curve down like a slide.  So...much...fun!
My Mom and I both shed our shoes to enjoy the fun of this giant, but sturdy pillow.
Watch out guys were taking over the town...Tiny Town that is.  That's right, there was an entire little town dedicated to people under 5 feet high.  The kiddos loved running inside these small buildings.  They had an old fashioned school house, a bank, a jail and a dress shop, just to name a few.
The kids were able to ride ponies and even got to pet the cowboys' horses.  They had so much fun doing that.  Thankfully they didn't ask to ride them as I would have been a nervous wreck!
No Ranch would have been complete without a petting zoo!  The kiddos pet and fed goats, pigs, sheep, miniature horses and bunnies.  Addie Pie was trying so hard to get a kiss, but the animals just weren't cooperating....poor girl.

After 7 hours of hamburgers, sno cones, animals, face painting, and pumpkin picking, we were all pretty beat.  This is how the big kids helped me wheel the girls to the car.
Unfortunately we missed the birthday parties, but thankfully we made memories to last a lifetime.

"Thank God for this gift too wonderful for words."
